MAFFS II SYSTEM

MAFFS Corporation is proud to partner with militaries around the world to train, equip, and support their aerial firefighters as they carry out their MAFFS mission.

There are currently systems in operation in eleven countries on five of the seven continents:

NORTH AMERICA

The United States Forest service owns eight MAFFS II systems that they operate in coordination with the Department of Defense who supply the aircraft and flight crews, as well as the maintenance and support staff needed to conduct operations. The units responsible for the MAFFS Mission are:

  • 146th Airlift Wing, California National Guard, Port Hueneme

  • 152nd Airlift Wing, Nevada Air National Guard, Cheyenne

  • 153rd Airlift Wing, Nevada Air National Guard, Cheyenne

  • 302nd Airlift Wing, Air Force Reserve, Peterson AIr Force Base, Colorado

SOUTH AMERICA

Brazil

The Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB) has operated two MAFFS I systems on their C130 aircraft since the 2000’s . These systems were again called into duty recently to combat the wildfires raging in the Amazon Rain Forest.

Brazil has replaced their C-130 fleet with KC390’s from Embraer and is utilising the new MAFFS II system.

Colombia

Colombia’s national disaster response unit, the Unidad Nacional para la Gestion del Riesgo de Desastres (UNGRD), has been a MAFFS partner since 2017 and works in coordination with The Fuerza Aérea Colombiana (FAC) who operate a MAFFS II System on their C-130’s to assist in the national effort to combat wildfires.

Colombia will soon be flying the new KC-390 from Embraer and we anticipate they will add MAFFS II capabilities to those aircraft as well.
